The Power of Mind Mapping

Our last Friday Session marked the 60th FAS, and it was a very special one indeed! We were honoured to have such a passionate consultant as Christian Vanden Berghen show us the power of mind mapping, a topic that involves every one of us!

What did we learn?Just about every good practice as well as a vast array interesting tools, both free and paying. A great example is ThinkBuzan, the official software by Tony Buzan, the inventor of the basic mind mapping technique. Try it and discover how it can help you improve your creativity and efficiency!

“I use mind maps to present a project, to take notes, to prepare a briefing, to write an article… I even use them to make my shopping list!”, Christian explained while emphasizing how this natural projection of ideas can help us to better remember, analyse and organise our daily lives.

During the session we got to know VUE (Visual Understanding Environment), an Open Source project based at Tufts University. The project focusses on creating flexible tools for managing and integrating digital resources in support of teaching, learning and research.

Have a look at some maps created with VUE, like the one below with masterpieces and their successors!
